MaiUGet is using the low-power Apple iBeacon location technology and do not use net or wi-fi.
Please note that you need to have special MailUGet postbox in order to use app. Every MailUget have special 'secret' 'Unique ID' that you need enter during mailbox configuration in MailUGet app.
