Its strength comes from the active participation of over 26,000 member families that belong to the state’s 23 county Farm Bureaus.
Farm Bureau’s purpose is to increase net farm income and improve the quality of life by providing a legislative voice, increasing public understanding and promoting member involvement.
Seven commodity organizations joined alliances in 1915 and formed the Maryland Ag Society. They affiliated with the American Farm Bureau Federation in 1920 to become the Maryland Farm Bureau. MDFB celebrated its 100th year in 2015 with a Centennial Celebration.
