We are excited that Mayor Maker is now available now on iTunes.

Mayor Maker is free, and the first and only app to do both automatic checkins and checkouts on Foursquare. The app optimizes battery life on the iPhone through use of Geofencing Powered by Location Labs. Any developer, business, or retailer can use this Library to create automatic checkin and intelligent location services. Use Mayor Maker, and you’ll be the mayor in no time!

The app introduces the new concept of checkouts, enabling users to make automatic shoutouts when leaving a venue. This creates a new direction for checkin services to provide greater value to merchants and business venues. Now merchants have a very clear idea of “dwell time” or how long the end user stays at a particular venue. Ultimately, how much time a person spends at a venue could be used as an accurate measure for customer loyalty and offering customer rewards.

On the user and consumer side, the app solves the problem of checkin fatigue. With Mayor Maker, users need only select their favorite venues once, and never have to push a button to check-in and check-out. Checkouts are a neat way for users to record the cool places they visit after having left. We can see checkouts as a trend taking off by giving users greater control and freedom. Users who don’t like to reveal their real-time physical location through checkins, can instead use checkouts to still record their visits to favorite places or say, their exercise visits to the gym or park.

This is only the beginning of applying intelligence to boost the utility, control and experience of location services for businesses and users alike.
