MD Public Access Trauma Care

by Prince George's County Govt.

What is it about?

The Maryland-National Capital Region Emergency Response System developed this interactive app to empower bystanders to render aid to victims after trauma-related emergencies. The training and skills portrayed in this app is known as Public Access Trauma Care, otherwise known as PATC. PATC allows civilians to treat each other with necessary skills and supplies during the critical time period between injury and arrival of public safety or other medical professionals. Immediate treatment by civilians is critical in caring for time-sensitive injuries such as extremity bleeding, compromised airways, sucking chest wounds, and hypothermia, all of which could prove fatal prior to the intervention of public safety or other medical professionals. This app allows civilians to view training videos and instructions, locate nearby health facilities, and administer life-saving aid by following step-by-step directions. In case of an emergency, ensure someone dials 9-1-1 to alert public safety and/or medical professionals. If you have any questions about PATC, please contact the Maryland-National Capital Region Emergency Response System at info@mders.org.
