Dating to 1868, Diakon daily transforms the lives of children, youths, families and adults of all ages in Pennsylvania and Maryland through programs ranging from comprehensive senior living communities to community-based services such as adoption, foster care, programs for at-risk youths, family and individual counseling, adult day services, meals on wheels, health-insurance counseling, volunteer opportunities, disaster response and more. Serving between 75,000 and 90,000 people annually, Diakon has an annual additional community benefit of more than $21 million. Diakon's mission is to help our neighbors through compassionate service, gracious hospitality and charitable care. Typically, that benevolent care amounts to more than $1 million a month.
