mela - Find People

Mela is a service for finding people nearby your location to do activities like sports, traveling, learning or simply hangout together.

Has it ever happened to you that you really wanted to do something interesting but there was no one available? Maybe all of your friends were busy or you were in a new place where you did not know many people. Mela helps you in that situation by showing what nearby people want to do. If someone wants to do similar activity like you then you can respond him/her by writing a message. After that you two can chat, know each other and decide whether you two want to do the activity together or not.

If you do not find any interesting activity in your location, then you can create a new activity by describing what you want to do. After you create an activity, nearby people will be able to see your activity and someone might respond you if that interesting. You can create private activity or group activity. Private activity is for one-on-one meeting and group activity is for doing something with a group of people. The lifespan of an activity is 7 days, after 7 days your activity will not be shown on activity feed.

You need to sign up and then setup your profile by giving basic profile information like birthday, gender, home country, languages you speak and your interests. Only these basic information will be shown in activity creator's profile so that users can have the idea of with whom they are communicating with. We do not collect full name and profile pictures because some people have the tendency of judging someone only by his/her name or look. We want to prevent premature judgement of people based on names or looks and we encourage people to communicate first and then decide whether to meet or not.

Privacy: We take your privacy very seriously. Though we collect your Email address for registration and birthday and home country for profile setup, those information will not be visible to other users. Your age, the languages you speak and your interests will be visible in your profile. We also collect your location for showing nearby activities, when you create an activity or respond to someone's activity.
