Melpalani is a replica of the most revered temples of Lord Muruga - Sri Palani Temple, consecreated by
Sadhguru Sri Sharavana Baba on the 7th June 2017, in the abode of Mayiladumkunnu, Kozhikode, Kerala,
India.
The temple was established by Shree Sharavana Baba Foundation, is a registered charitable trust based
in Kozhikode, Kerala, India.
Melpalani is the divine sankalpa of Sadhguru Sri Sharavana Baba, the divine incarnation of Lord Muruga,
who visited the holy land of Mayiladumkunnu almost 12 years before the consecration of the temple, and
had declared that in the future a beautiful temple of Lord Muruga would be constructed, which will be
a replica of the Murugan temple at Palani.
‘Mel’ means ‘facing west’, which is similar to the idol at Palani.
The entire temple right from the shape, design, idol, directions are similar to Palani Murugan temple.
Mayiladumkunnu is a sacred land, which was inhabited by Maharishis who had conducted immense
penance. Sri Babaji declared that it’s their sankalpa that has come to fruition.
At Melpalani Temple priests perform the 6-time pooja, similar to Palani Murugan temple.
