Monster Sampah

The App MonSa is developed for project ‘Garbage Monster’ which is a socio-environmental initiative of PT. Eco Indonesia Initiatives. The plan is to bring an efficient system of waste collection and thus waste management in Indonesia. The App MonSa provides a smart and easy solution via mobile application platform. The MonSa App is a free waste collection service and also would give incentives to users for sorting organic waste and recyclable non-organic material such as plastic, rubber, metal, etc. Garbage Monster not only limits to collection of separated recyclable waste but also takes care of directing high value recyclables to recycling factories. This project will have a huge social impact by not only making people aware of waste problem and also taking their contribution in retaining high value recyclables. This would increase diversion of waste from idle dumping into landfills and bring a revolution in how waste is perceived. We add value to waste and arise concern about waste problem at individual level.

There will be two apps one for user and another for collectors. Users can request a pick up of their waste bag (with user’s app), the waste bag will be picked up by the collectors who get notified on the collector’s app. The geo positioning and navigation feature makes the service efficient. Reward points to users will be determined based upon the amount (in kg) and quality (clean/ dirty) of non-organic waste received at the warehouse. To ensure correct allocation of reward points per user, waste bags with QR codes will be distributed which will be scanned at the time of pick up by the MonSa collectors. Beneficiaries of the project are households, waste collectors-sorters, and recycling factories.
