App Store Description
With Motion Tracking users are able to log heart rate and 6 specific arm movements using the HR and IMU sensors in Apple Watch. The app also has an Interaction feature that uses a visualisation controlled by your arm movement.
The Log feature enables users to log 6 distinct arm and hand movements:
- Shoulder abduction
- Finger extension
- Wrist extension
- Hands behind head
- Hands behind back
- Punch the air
Heart rate is also logged for research purposes.
The application creates a unique ID for each log session, this makes the management of data simpler for export and analysis.
The Interaction feature takes the IMU and HR data from Apple Watch to create a fun visualisation on iPhone for the user to play with. Users can take screenshots of the visualisation they are creating by double-tapping the screen on iPhone.
Motion Tracking was created by researchers at the Helix Centre at Imperial College London as a tool to demonstrate how data can be collected and labelled for visitors to the Great Exhibition Road Festival 2023 in London.
