App Store Description

Motor calculations made easy!

As with all our apps this app provides the underlying maths and theory behind the calculations together with worked examples. This will allow you to not just get an answer, but more more importantly to understand how the answer was derived.

This app is written to allow you to undertake ac electric motor calculations with ease. The following two features are available within the app:

Mechanical:

This feature provides the following four tools:

Speed RPM: Upon entering a motor’s supply frequency, number of poles, and percentage slip if applicable, the motor’s synchronous speed and slip speed in RPM is calculated.

Output Power: Upon entering a motor’s phase or line voltage, current, power factor, and efficiency the the motor’s mechanical output power in kW and horsepower HP is calculated.

Torque: Upon entering a motor’s shaft power and shaft speed the motor’s torque in Nm and foot-pounds (lbf⋅ft) is calculated.

Speed Rads/s: Upon entering a motor’s shaft speed the motor’s angular speed in Radians per second is calculated.

Horse Power to kW Converter: Upon entering a Horse Power output power, the app calculates the corresponding kWm output power. By toggling the input value the reverse can also be calculated.

Electrical:

This feature provides the following two tools:

Full Load Current: Upon entering a motor’s mechanical power rating together with its phase or line voltage, power factor, and efficiency the motor’s full load current current (Amps) is calculated.

Input Power: Upon entering a motor’s mechanical power rating together with its power factor and efficiency the motor’s electrical input power in kW and kVA is calculated.
