App Store Description

Melbourne Rapid Fields (MRF) Diabetes is designed to be used by patients with diabetes and by doctors and researchers to test users' visual field.

Problems in the visual field occur in diabetic eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. MRF Diabetes has been designed to detect abnormalities in the visual field both in the macula and in the periphery (up to 30 degrees from central fixation point) found in patients with diabetes.

MRF is a TGA (Aus) and FDA (US) registered Perimeter.
The user must check with local regulation when using MRF in a clinical setting outside Australia and the United States.

MRF is at present designed to be used only by clinicians (ophthalmologist, optometrists) or vision researchers or by patients under the guidance of the aforementioned professionals. The use of the software by patients without the guidance of clinicians or vision researcher is not supported. This software is not to be used for self-diagnosis vision conditions. It is not a substitute for formal eye testing by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

Modules within the MRF application include:
1. Full threshold test for entire visual field up to 30 degree from fixation. (average test time 3-4 minutes)
2. Full threshold test for macular region with a special red target. (average test time 2 minutes)
3. Retina sensitive acuity tests

Longitudinal comparison of test results is performed at the end of each test. Test results are stored and can be accessed through an online portal. Test results can be exported as comma separated values (.CVS) format and imported into Excel for detailed point-to-point analysis (for vision research purpose).

  Features:
1. Full field test
2. Macular test
3. Retina-sensitive vision test including low contrast acuity and noise acuity
4. Respond to spots either using screen touch or Bluetooth Keyboard.
5. Longitudinal test result comparison with progression analysis.
6. Saving of test results under multiple testing accounts.
7. Automatic saving of data online and access data via a secure online portal.
8. Calculation of Mean Deviation, Pattern Deviation and Visual Capacity percentage.
9. Recording of false positives, false negatives and fixation losses.
10. Export data in CVS form.
11. Link patient accounts to clinician account online.

MRF is developed by Dr George Kong, an ophthalmologist and Prof Algis Vingrys, a vision scientist and optometrist with 20+ years of research and clinical experience.
