The sale of music on physical media has declined over the past few years to the point where downloaded and streaming music has surpassed physical media sales. Interestingly, however is that the emergence of new technologies in media has ironically amplified the desire for many to purchase music the “good old fashioned way” as reflected in the rising number of vinyl LP sales, up 51% annually (Nielson, 2014).
