App Store Description

Not tested or recommended for pre-3GS devices.

Ipods and the iPod app are used in at least two distinct ways. If you're going out on a run, or sitting at your desk at work, you probably just want some background music, and you don't want to bother with choosing your songs individually. We call this 'preloading', and it's what Apple's play lists and global shuffle mode were designed for. The existing iPod player works great for this.

On the other hand, there are times when you seek a more intimate relationship with your music – when you're sitting in your favorite easy chair, or on your sofa, or in bed, or even when you're traveling on a plane, say; when you'd like to pick and choose your music more selectively. You may want to re-order songs in the play queue, or remove something and replace it, or you'd like to pick five or six songs at random and play them in order without having to create a special play list. We call this 'browsing' mode, and it's what Muzix was designed for.

Muzix is also provides a desktop-like environment for your music. Instead of files however, Muzix has songs and playlists, and instead of folders, Muzix uses 'Categories'.

The app also lets you modify the play queue however you want during play. You can add, remove, and reorder songs anytime, to create exactly the mood you desire. You can move the currently playing song to a different position, or move a song to the top position, and Muzix will do what you expect. Muzix provides a new kind of music player experience; one in which you have total control over what's being played.

In addition Muzix playlists are kept separate from iPod playlists, and they’re a lot easier to create and use. Also, when you select a playlist in Muzix, by touching on its icon, the songs are ADDED to the play queue instead of REPLACING what you've already selected (of course, it's easy to clear the queue, if that's what you want to do).

Muzix lets you play your music... your way!

NOTE: As a result of limitations in Apple's music player, Muzix was designed to operate as a foreground application. In order to facilitate background operation, in version 1.10, a new button has been added to the play queue page that causes the entire queue to be sent to the iPod player. This allows the user to then place Muzix in the background, and proceed to other tasks. Note that when re-activated, Muzix will do the best it can to re-sync with the music played while it was asleep. Also note that version 1.10 implements 'Music Adoption', wherein if there is nothing currently in Muzix' play list, and something is currently being played in the iPod player, the current song will be automatically added to Muzix' play queue.
