App Store Description

The way of St. James is a very old pilgrimage route located in northwestern Spain. The final destination of this route is the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where, according to tradition, the remains of the apostle Saint James are buried.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from around the world converge to this part of the world to walk this route.

“My way of St. James” is a unique application that lets you do this pilgrimage YOUR way, without the need to go to any special place but the place you are right now!

Essentially, this application works like a pedometer that transforms your steps in “Pilgrim steps” and transposes them on the map of “My way of St. James”. So you will, in a virtual way, go through the same cities and villages in which the last hundreds kilometers of the real pilgrimage go through. You will start your walk in the city of Sarria and, step by step, gradually make your way to your final destination, the Santiago Cathedral. But actually, perhaps the only place you will ever go to will be the streets surrounding your house!

In a virtual way, “My way of St. James” contains all the essential things that are in a real pilgrim’s bag:

* An overall map representing the last 100 kilometers of the route that leads you from Sarria to the Santiago Cathedral.

* 11 different maps that represent the 11 segments of the road that makes up the last 100 kilometers of the way of St. James.

* The pilgrim’s passport, in which you will collect all of the needed stamps to get your pilgrim’s certificate, known as the Compostela.

* A virtual Compostela certificate.

So at any moment that you want to take time for yourself, whether it is lunch hour, or simply when it’s time to walk the dog, fire up your “My way of St. James” application and record your walk!

Good road pilgrim!
