What is it about?

It is now widely accepted that dairy cows are chronically exposed to multiple mycotoxins in feed. The levels and types of mycotoxins in feed vary according to the environmental conditions pre- and post-harvest of feed crops and contamination can be very hard to predict. Mycotoxins are known to exert their effects in the animal at the cellular and physiological level which often manifests in the form of health issues, reduced production performance and ultimately margins and bottom lines.

App Store Description

It is now widely accepted that dairy cows are chronically exposed to multiple mycotoxins in feed. The levels and types of mycotoxins in feed vary according to the environmental conditions pre- and post-harvest of feed crops and contamination can be very hard to predict. Mycotoxins are known to exert their effects in the animal at the cellular and physiological level which often manifests in the form of health issues, reduced production performance and ultimately margins and bottom lines.

MycoCheckUp allows dairy farmers to estimate the risk of mycotoxin contamination on their farm by answering a few questions about known risk factors including crop growing conditions; the level of maize silage in the rations; the quality of other forages such as grass silage and whole crop; other concentrates and feeds offered; the level of milk production; somatic cell counts and manure consistency.

The user will receive a report which illustrates the level of risk as low, medium or high. Details on how to submit samples for testing, and what can be done if the risk proves to be medium or high are given on the FAQ page.

Experts from Micron Bio-Systems are available to make recommendations and offer guidance on mycotoxin deactivation programmes which will help to protect dairy herds from the negative effects of these toxins on health and production.
