MySafe NZ: Emergency Planner

Mysafe was conceptualised by Punga Mullins, who saw the urgent need in disaster prone regions and countries, for a way to locate, assist and teach family or groups to make it through an emergency or disaster event – to create a peace of mind that your family are significantly better prepared, and to know exactly where they are during an emergency.

In the event of an Emergency, or Natural Disaster it is invariably chaotic and frightening – typically the following will occur:
 
1. Fear for your family and their whereabouts
2. Not knowing if your family members safe or need help
3. Not knowing how to react to different emergencies
4. Not knowing where to go, or how to get the family group together
5. Struggling to find information about the disaster or emergency
6 .Not having access to food, water and shelter during a prolonged emergency

The New Zealand developed Mysafe App is designed to assist a family group through an emergency or disaster situation – The Mysafe App will:
 
1. Show the real-time GPS location on a map of all of your family and pets
2. Your family members can alert the group to let you know they are safe or otherwise
3. Provide guides and information about different disaster situations, so that you have practical knowledge in most emergencies
4. Create a personalised plan so that your family group will know exactly what to do, and can rendezvous at a safe location, dependants can be safely located and collected – this emergency plan can be activated and all group members notified
5. Provide Civil Defence notifications and premium news feeds directly to the App
6. Provide a group message system to communicate directly with your family group
7. Check list of emergency survival items
8. Direct access to Emergency Survival Kits and GPS location devices – to enable much better preparedness in the event of an emergency
