App Store Description

Overview: The app names colors and can be helpful for people, who can not see, identify and name all colors (color blindness). The app can also be helpful for people, who are sometimes not very shure what color it is or just do not like to name a color. The app finds out the name of a color using color information of a photo or a setting of a color slider.

Details: Make a photo of the object which color do you want to know. Touch object and the belonging color name is displayed. Or use sliders for red, green and blue to create a color. For every color you create the belonging color name is displayed. To make a photo press the camera button or use your Apple Camera app and open photo afterwards from an album. Every photo can be used to find out a colors name (also screen shot). If the color you want to know is covered from the menu, you can hide it with close button (bottom, right). Next touch brings the menu back. Touch your display in the margin to show menu without a new result. A photo should have a minimum size of 136 x 136 pixel (about thumbnail size) for a useful result. To open color slider touch color field beside found out color name (top, left).

Settings: The button bottom left shows settings. You can find here Adopt Result, Show Rgb Value, Measuring Area and Scale Option. If Adopt Result is on, found out color name is used in color slider. If off, last saved value is used in color slider. Option Show Rgb Value displays additional to found out color name the belonging rgb values. In landscape mode it is often better to switch off this option. In Measuring Area you can choose how many values (pixel) are used to calculate a colors name. 7 x 7 (49) often provides a good result. Use Scale Option to enlarge a photo. Touch display anywhere to hide settings.

Reliability: To name a color is a complex process influenced by universal and individual color perception, learning from experience and the current situation of lighting. People can do this better than the app can do. How reliable a found out color name is, you can see below every result in percent.

Please note: The app is made to help colorblind people. It is no photo or graphic app. Benefit of the app for not colorblind people may be small. Liability for the correctness of all with the app calculated color names is not accepted.
