App Store Description

A salient feature of executive function is the ability to rapidly alternate between tasks to allow online reconfiguration of attentional and motor goals. At present, executive function assessments must be conducted in a laboratory and therefore are inaccessible to those who do not participate in controlled studies.

The goal of this app is to determine whether an at-home assessment is sensitive and reliable enough to provide measures of executive function following experimental manipulations (e.g., exercise). To accomplish this objective, we have created the Pro Anti Point app. In particular, executive function will be examined via the anti-pointing task (i.e., a goal-directed point-movement mirror-symmetrical to a presented target). Note that this app is completely anonymous and no personal or location data will be collected; only movement time (MT), reaction time (RT) and pointing coordinates.

Participants will be instructed to perform a series of pro- and anti-points in response to differently coloured fixation crosses. In particular, red indicates participants are to point in the mirror-symmetrical direction of a presented target, whereas a green fixation cross indicates participants are to point directly at a presented target.
