The primary functionality of the app is to scan and decode both linear and 2D breast implant device barcodes to push the data contained within the barcode to the NBIR. NBIR Participants can also use the app to enter additional details related to the patient, procedure, and the implanted and/or explanted device.

The app can help participants eliminate the data entry burden by auto-populating device data elements into the registry.
The NBIR is a collaboration between The Plastic Surgery Foundation, the FDA, and breast implant device manufacturers for the purpose of strengthening the post-market surveillance infrastructure for current and future breast implant devices.
