New numbers can be imported into the contacts list directly from the app. Unknown numbers can be searched with a search engine or a reverse number look-up. This app can also run for a short period of time in the background, and can display a notification with caller information (retrieved from the device's contacts list). Please note that in recent versions of iOS the time period that the app can run in the background has been restricted to a few minutes.
This app requires an NCID Server, which is an open-source software package available for numerous platforms. The server is built-in to some wireless routers, such as the Vodafone EasyBox. For more information, visit http://ncid.sourceforge.net/.
