Northampton Castle VR Tour

The Friends of Northampton Castle invite you to take a tour around the historic Great Hall of Northampton Castle, scene of the trial of Thomas Beckett, among other important moments in English History.


It is St. Stephen's Day, 1216, and we are about to visit the feast being held by King Henry III. This virtual reality tour, used with a Google Cardboard headset, tours around the Castle Great Hall, with information about various interesting things throughout the Hall. We will meet a large cast of characters, each with their own part to play in English History, and educate ourselves about Northampton Castle's illustrious past, as well as various other elements of medieval Christmas traditions.

The tour is controlled by looking at your feet, until the panel changes colour. Get more information about certain elements by looking at the "i" icon, and close the information panel by looking for the finished panel on the information screen.



Safety information

As with all VR experiences, it’s important to take frequent breaks. If you experience nausea, discomfort, eye strain, or dizziness, stop using the 360° viewer immediately. Likewise, if you have had or could be prone to seizures,consult a doctor before using the viewer.
