So you have invested in a Faraday pouch for your phone - Well done.
You want to stop rogue Apps on your phone from tracking your every movement and maybe uploading details of your contacts and other phones close by to some database that you have no control over or access to. Details that maybe stored for years without your knowledge.
You also don't want to have to disable functionality on your phone every time you want to go Off Grid and then re-instate them afterwards. The Faraday pouch solves this problem because once the phone is removed from the pouch all the functions are quickly restored automatically.
Apps on your phone can use radio signals from Wifi hotspots, Telephony cell towers, Bluetooth and GPS satellites to gather details of your movements second by second.
Encasing your phone in a Faraday cage is the only sure way to thwart them short of either throwing your phone away or taking the battery out.
The option of removing the battery is gradually disappearing because most modern phones don't allow it.
You need to be sure that the Faraday pouch you have purchased does indeed isolate your phone from these radio tracking sources.
Our App "Off Grid" does exactly that . It checks that your Faraday pouch has successfully isolated your phone from all radio signals.
How does it work ?
When you activate the App it automatically checks for Wifi, Cell tower telephony, Bluetooth and GPS signals. Outside the pouch it displays the result of this check by a visual display and by sound. If any of the above services are detected the associated button will turn green in the display. Under normal operations when your phone is outside the Faraday pouch you would see Wifi, telephony, Bluetooth and GPS displaying Green.
If any radio signal is detected from any of these sources the App also plays a distinctive warning sound.
When the phone is placed in your pouch all the buttons should turn red and the sound change to a distinctive tinkle. Of course you wont be able to see the display but the warning sound will be audible from inside the pouch.
If the warning sound does not change, the Faraday pouch is still detecting a radio signal and your pouch is not working.
