Open The Earth

Open The Earth is the ultimate app for discovering the incredible geology of Utah, the center of "Scenic America". Open The Earth is the prefect companion for planning your next road trip, visiting the Big 5 National Parks, or just passing through on one of the major roadways. With over 120 narrations, and growing, Open The Earth has the whole State covered. Narrations are never too technical! Narrations are between 3 and 9 minutes in length. Most narrations are accompanied by a photo.

Open The Earth has two modes:

Explore Mode: made for touring by vehicle along the major roadways in Utah. As you approach an included feature you will receive a notification that a narration is available and all you have to do is select ‘Play Narration’. Since areas of Utah are very remote, you have the option to download all the narrations and photos

At Home Mode: lets you listen from any location. Just select the pin and play the narration! We're sure you will discover something interesting just by listening. This is a great tool for planning trips.

As a bonus, Open The Earth, has one narrated hike up Rock Canyon in Provo. The narrations cover the geology along the first mile of the trail and has an elevation gain of around 550 feet. Perfect for a quick evening hike up a beautiful canyon with family and friends.

Each geological feature has a brief written summary as well as a routing to take you to, or nearby, the feature.
