TOPIC 1 Digital workspace
TOPIC 2 Team management
TOPIC 3 Partnerships
Second of all, for junior SME employees and graduates on how they can contribute to open innovation practices. This section includes the following topics:
TOPIC 1 Upskilling opportunities
TOPIC 2 Collaboration
TOPIC 3 Networking
TOPIC 4 Digital learning
Dig into the content to participate in the microlearning! Each topic includes visual storytelling, step by step training, interactive exercises, a checklist of learning outcomes and a note-taking screen. The visual storytelling introduces concepts and explains different workplace situations / reactions=practices and technologies. The step-by-step training is built of learning pills, divided into screens, combining text and graphics – related to open innovation concepts. With the interactive exercises you will test your knowledge based on information from the visual storytelling and step by step training. Checklists of practices after each topic enable tracking learning progress by marking achievement of a goal (the learning objectives). In the note-taking section you can write down own observations from your real-context workplace environment, as well as add new practices that are saved on your device.

Equipping citizens with digital tools stimulating towards taking action regarding methods that work is an efficient management of time. Training staff on open innovation will put them in the position of adopting and applying the same tools in new conditions or a new context. Moreover, there is an increased need for quick actions for a more mobile workforce, resulting from fast pacing technological advances.
Adding to this, it is through open innovation that the initial ideas coming from talented employees can be further analysed and taken one level higher, or new ones can be considered, in both cases for the introduction of positive transforming changes to the business. Digitalization forced by new technologies and social development is key for open innovation. Yet open innovation cannot be perceived in the category of definite strategies, but evaluated over time and with digital transformation. This makes it even more important on educating the society, learners and businesses on actions they can take to improve the quality of life at the time being. The OPEN4U app is a response to these needs.
The OPEN4U app is a result of the OPEN4U: intrOducing Practices in opEn innovatioN 4U project, co-funded by the European Union. It is made available in 7 languages.
