OpenPantry

OpenPantry is a way to connect people with surplus food to those who want it. Every day, 30% of Household Food goes to waste, while 1/6th of our community struggles to put adequate amounts of food on the table. This has to stop. Together, we can feed each other, fight hunger, reduce food-waste, and build a thriving community around love, respect, sustenance.

POST
-Snap a picture of any food item, title it, and post it as long as it has has dignity, and you’d be comfortable to eat it yourself
-Share a brief description of what the item is and an estimate of your availibility
-Identify any potential allergens, how you want to share it (Pick up, Drop off, Meet Somewhere), how long it’s good for, and how many people it serves

FEED
-Look through a feed of nearby food items sorted by location
-Filter it based off of categories and location

REQUEST
-Request any item that looks good to you
-Add an optional message to introduce yourself

CHAT
-Chat to introduce yourselves, make sure your comfortable, and find an ideal time/place to share food
-Accept/Decline requests

PROFILE
-Create a profile with a brief bio, a profile photo, your first name, your allergies, and your favorite food
-View others as they post or request meals to make sure you feel comfortable with sharing
