App Store Description

Dearest warm-hearted humans,

Frustrated with getting nowhere in online dating? So are we.

We’ve had it with unfocused communication. We are tired of endless swiping, conversations that go nowhere, and the distraction of infinite matching. We’re so over being ghosted on and being treated poorly. Far too much time is invested in dating apps for far too little in return, right?

Driven to fix what is broken in the online dating space, our team at paird has created a dating app experience we feel is the closest thing to being close. We’ve added simple, real-world elements like video-first profile-creation, voice notes and anti-ghosting features. We’ve purposely left out photo filters to encourage users to share their true selves. We’ve even created a system to push folks towards being more selective with their conversations.

We ask only one thing. Please take the time to explore our entire feature set on paird. We are not another swipe-and-match dating app. If you come to our app and do exactly what you do on other apps, you will have the same outcome and that is not our goal. Our platform allows you to learn more about the people you are connecting with, so please put in the effort and expect others to do the same.

Our highlights:

• Video-first profile-creation

Is a static image enough to decide on someone? Maybe he is hilarious. Maybe she is sweet. A video tells all. Listen to people’s voices and watch their body language within our video-first profile environment. Our team believes in slowing things down, so we are asking our users to devote a few extra seconds to creating a video or watching a video, instead of rapidly firing through each profile as fast as their thumb can move.

• A push towards selective conversations:

We have initiated a system where both sides must confirm an interest in pursuing a conversation. With three no-cost conversations granted monthly, we believe better chats will happen when a user commits to using a feature that is “limited”. Call it a chat currency, where you know when users agree to speak with you, they are taking it seriously. We also believe that folks who are not selective enough and use their three convos too quickly would be pushed to be more selective the following month.

• Curated dating-relevant content

Many dating apps integrate Instagram into a dating profile. We love Instagram, but not every image or video we post is ideal to attract a mate. How many photos of a sandwich, a funky chair or a sunset do potential pairs need to see? We have bridged the best of our competitors with a semi-social feed that is only populated with users who have shown mutual interest and “paird” with one another. Just as your posts populate your pairs’ feed, their posts populate yours, and these photos and videos help them learn more about one another before landing face to face.

• #NoFilters

We believe so much in authenticity that we removed the photo filters we originally had in the app. We want people to know exactly who they are engaging with. We also encourage people to feel that their real selves are their best selves. Real life doesn’t have a filter setting. Why should a dating app?

• “LET'S VIDEO CHAT”

An illuminated blue avatar shows you who’s available for a video chat. You can only see who’s available when you have indicated the same. The clock resets every morning so you will know in real time who would like to video chat that day.

• Voice Notes

What better way to get to know someone than by hearing their voice? We believe hearing people’s voices offers a deeper glimpse into who they are. Love a photo on someone’s feed and want to tell them? Why type it when you can say it? This feature opens between users when both sides have agreed to proceed with a conversation.
