Built from 1215 onwards, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco was originally the western border fortress of the Republic of Genoa. It became the home of the Grimaldi family when they established their sovereignty in Monaco from the late 13th century to the early 14th.

Built from 1215 onwards, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco was originally the western border fortress of the Republic of Genoa. It became the home of the Grimaldi family when they established their sovereignty in Monaco from the late 13th century to the early 14th.
The Palace is a private residence, but in the summer months the Royal Apartments are open to visitors. During the tour of the Royal Apartments, you’ll be able to discover all of the Palace’s hidden treasures such as its mythological frescoes dating from the Renaissance and its art collections. You’ll also walk in the footsteps of the princes who once lived here, from the Hercules Gallery to the Princes’ Gallery, through the Throne Room and the Royal bedroom.
