PEARLIES

Parental Empowerment to Prevent Early Childhood Caries (PEARLIES) is an intervention to empower parents to prevent early childhood caries. It is part of “Technology-enabled anticipatory guidance and peer support in empowering parents to prevent early childhood caries: A randomized controlled trial”, a research study conducted by researchers from National University of Singapore, to assess the effectiveness of the intervention programme in empowering parents to prevent early childhood caries.

As part of the programme, online (Zoom) parent empowerment sessions to provide you with tips to improve your child’s oral health and prepare for the next stage of life will be arranged when your child is around 3, 6, 12 and 18 months of age. This PEARLIES mobile app will also be updated with relevant information at these ages, along with additional quizzes to be completed. In addition, you will receive questionnaires when your child is around 12, 24 and 36 months old, and dental check ups for your child will be scheduled when your child is 24 and 36 months old. Reimbursements will be provided after each Zoom session, questionnaire, and dental check-up ($20 each) via Paynow or cash.
