App Store Description

Phonic Alien Adventure uses fun and engaging graphics to help children develop their phonic awareness.

The game is set on the spaceship of a friendly alien species called the Zeeboes. The player must help the Zeeboes to identify the objects on the screen so that they can catalogue each item and increase their understanding of planet Earth. The player must help to identify the object at the end of the conveyor belt by scrolling through the missing phonemes (sounds). If they select the correct phoneme and complete the word correctly then the object will be beamed up into the hatch.

The game has 5 levels that gradually increase in difficulty with longer words and more missing phonemes. It contains a large bank of words, so the words that the player is asked to spell will change even if they continue to play the same level. Each level sees the Zeeboes travel to a different country: Australia, Egypt, England, France and the USA. The gameplay remains the same on all 5 levels.

This app has been created in line with the DfEs Letters and Sounds programme and the words featured have been taken from the high frequency word lists in phases 2-6. However, it can be used in conjunction with any synthetic phonics programme and would be useful to anyone learning how to read.
