App Store Description

The PIANISSIMO app is a 6-month physical activity intervention.

First, the participants will receive a text notification on a daily basis (except on Sunday) about physical activity.

During the first weeks, notifications will mainly focus on how to practice physical activity, i.e. pointing the participants’ capabilities and the opportunities to practice. The content of the notifications will then progressively address further their motivation, including knowledge about health benefits of physical activity.

Second, the participant will be asked to set their daily steps goal for the next week every Sunday by a text notification, and will receive a reminder the next day in case of absence of response. Daily steps will be retrieved by an Application Programming Interface (API) in the Apple Health / Google Fit applications. The API centralises data from the participants’ phone or from a connected watch, if a wearable device is connected to the phone. Thus, the PIANISSMO app will allow participants to follow their daily steps on a graph matched against their week’s goal.

Third, the mobile app will deliver feedback on daily step count and whether the goal of the week has been reached.
Participants demographics will be obtained at inclusion including sex, age, height, weight, tobacco exposure , alcohol intake, socio-professional status, level of education, annual income, country of residence, comorbidities. The severity of OA will be based on : affected joints; duration since diagnosis; pain management treatment; symptomatic severity. Information on sports practice history will be collected including sport disciplines, frequency and duration of practice of previous and ongoing practice.

Throughout the study, the participants will be asked to answer pain evaluation questionnaires that will be send randomly one a week. They will also have the possibility to report a pain event at any time using this questionnaire. The participants will also be asked to answer the SF-WOMAC questionnaire monthly. At the end of the intervention, the participants will be invited to answer to the App evaluation questionnaire.
