History of Wheel Games

Fate, fortunes and misfortunes, were determined by gaming wheels going back probably over two thousand years. Wheel of Fortune or Rota Fortunae was an early symbol of fate. Roman Legion soldiers turned over their chariots and bet on the outcomes of spinning their wheels. Early wheels were paddle wheels and it wasn’t until the late 17th or early 18th century that Roulette (“little wheel”) was introduced. While Roulette did take off across casinos in Europe and the Americas, paddle wheels continue to be played in some casinos.

A little gaming wheel knowledge: a paddle wheel is not a roulette wheel, they are quite different. Roulette “wheel” is actually a horizontal bowl into which a ball is flicked, it rotates and sinks as the wheelhead or “top” located in the bowl is spun. The ball drops in the ball track jumping about hitting deflectors until it finally rests in one of the numbered pockets. A paddle wheel is a vertical wheel with numbers and or symbols printed in segments and divided by pins over which a paddle or clapper slaps as the wheel is spun until finally resting on one of the segments. Truly, a paddle wheel is a wheel where Roulette is more a bowl with a top in it.

Value of Paddle Wheel Games

Paddle wheels display their spin vertically so players can easily observe their selected wagers revolving increasingly slower as the wheel decelerates. Watching their fate as it slowly rises as a possible winner only to have it click, click ….. click – Darn – almost! Our wheels move players who often begin to stand as their luck seems likely – and then, if it passes, they throw themselves into the chair with disappointment. Other games do not provide that level of anticipation, expectation and then……..ah, shucks or YES! Keno merely flashes numbers. Dice are very fast. With cards, while they do have some anticipation as they associate with other cards in a pattern, they do not quite deliver the same level of catharsis.

This Edition of Pig Wheel®

Pig Wheel is an electronic paddle wheel game similar to that legally wagered in North Dakota with one large exception. The 40 numbers arrayed on the electronic wheel are sequential rather than scattered as they are on the mechanical wheel.
This amusement edition provides some notion of what an electronic wheel with an electronic multi-player table would include if the legislature allowed. In order to preserve space, we have set the gaming table or wagering layout over the middle and lower section of the wheel with the upper section of the wheel visible on top. In order to augment the value of anticipation inherent to watching a whole large wheel spin, we sequence lighting up each wagering space on the table as the wheel spins. This allows the ever-slowing spin to show both on the wheel and the wagering layout.

As a player, you may bank up as many credits or units as you wish in the Bank & Setup area. You can use a two-digit, hence not too secure, code as an impediment to changing the balance in the bank. Thus, you can have a little competition with others to see who lasts the longest or finishes in a given period of time with the most credits.

Selecting where you wish to wager is conducted by tapping on the number, set of numbers or pigs you wish to bet, thereby placing a chip. Continued tapping increases the quantity of chips as indicated by the number shown in the center of each chip. This app allows for all the line and corner and multi-pig bets found in the regulated game.

In selecting your numbers, series of numbers or pigs the “win history” shows a wheel diagram with the quantity of hits and the percentage for each segment of the wheel.

Aiding in your developing wagering strategies you may create up to 10 multi-wager bet configurations and check how well those configurations perform over the past up to 1,000 spins.
