Have you ever wanted to map the network latency on a road or trail but couldn't find the app for it? Well, now you can with PingPoint.

Visualize network ping latency on a map to find the best signal in your area. Record a ping session while navigating to map the connectivity of an area, route, or trail. Pings are recorded on the map as different colored blips ranging from green to red, indicating good to poor latency. Select different ping intervals or target hosts for your tests.

I designed PingPoint to make it easier to diagnose connectivity in the wilderness and at the edge of cellular service. Suggested uses include but are not limited to:
⌱ Map the network latency of an area, trail or route to discover the best regions of connectivity. (via cellular or mobile wifi hotspot)
⌱ Analyze the stability of a connection using the timeline graph. (cellular or wifi)
⌱ Map the latency of regions outside of your home. (home wifi)
⌱ Attempt to prioritize your traffic in congested network conditions by pinging in the background while using other apps. (cellular or mobile wifi hotspot)
⌱ Test network latency to a host like standard network ping tools.

PingPoint is perfect for IT professionals, network analysts, road warriors, digital nomads, or anyone technically inclined who is interested in sampling network latency while navigating and graphing it on a map.

FEATURES:
- Dashboard with live GPS accuracy readings, graph and map to conduct latency tests.
- Buttons to quickly switch ping intervals.
- See all pings and latency information plotted on a map.
- Filter map pings by latency. Quickly see fast and slow latency areas.
- Pings are grouped by session with min/max/mean/avg/round-trip statistics and graphs for each ping session.
- Select individual pings on the map to show the recorded accuracy and latency for that ping.
- Copy coordinates of any ping location.
- Navigate via Apple Maps to any ping location.
- Export ping sessions as GPX routes.

LIMITATIONS:
- The dashboard timeline graph view is not interactive yet.
- Only ipv4 support currently (send feedback if ipv6 is needed sooner).
- Ping packet sizes are not configurable yet (send feedback if needed sooner).
- Location accuracy is only as good as the device's built in GPS and using a 3rd party GPS receiver can improve the accuracy reported to PingPoint.

ON THE ROADMAP:
- Better iPad screen layouts.
- macOS compatibility.
- Improved timeline view (scrollable, zoomable, interactive).
- More detailed information about individual pings and session statistics.
- More charts and graphs.
- Configurable ping packet sizes and payload.
- Gradient heat map for a clearer representation of both latency and gps accuracy on the map.
- Enhanced session organization (ie. naming, tagging, flagging, etc.).
- Location based ping interval (ie. only ping after moving a specified distance).
- Throughput testing.
- Apple Watch support (if requested).

PRIVACY POLICY:
All of your recorded location data remains offline, encrypted on your device where it belongs. Beyond the information which you can choose to share with developers through Apple there are no third-party analytics or advertising frameworks in PingPoint. PingPoint will not transmit, distribute or sell your data. Ever.
