App Store Description

Piraeus, the port of the capital, the first port of the country, a generative force of industrial activity during the 19th century, a place full of particularities and a long history.

The proposed four walks, which were designed based on the districts of Piraeus as spatial units, the existence of buildings that function as landmarks, as well as on the grounds of density of noteworthy listed buildings and important archaeological sites, which although the project concerns the Neoclassical Piraeus, are nevertheless integrated as they constitute evidence of the cultural heritage.

The planned walks start from key points related to access to Piraeus (e.g. ISAP station, port of Piraeus-passenger terminals), as well as prominent cultural points, e.g. the Municipal Theater and the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, building at 36 2nd Merarchias street.

The proposed walks aim to represent to both the visitor and the mere passer-by the image of the neoclassical city of Piraeus during the 19th century, displaying representative architectural ensembles.
