App Store Description

Immerse yourself in the colourful world of Pop Art Design with this multimedia app from London’s Barbican Centre. This app explores the exciting exchange of ideas between artists and designers in the Pop age and challenges us to rethink how we see the two.

Designed to be both visually rich and user-friendly, the app features:
• explorations of eighteen key works from the exhibition, with high-res photographs
• insights from exhibition curators on the impact of pop art and design
• interviews with artists and designers including Jann Haworth
• behind the scenes insights into the creation of some of these works

Over fifty years after it exploded onto the art scene, Pop Art Design is the first comprehensive exhibition to explore. Bringing together more than 200 works by over 70 artists and designers, the exhibition includes iconic and lesser known works by such artists as Peter Blake, Pauline Boty, Judy Chicago, Richard Hamilton, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Joe Tilson and Andy Warhol, shown alongside objects by Achille Castiglioni, Charles and Ray Eames, Peter Murdock, George Nelson, Gaetano Pesce and Ettore Sottsass. Pop Art Design also presents a wealth of graphic material from posters and magazines to album sleeves, as well as film, photography and documentation of Pop interiors and architecture.

Download this app and use it as a multimedia guide before, during and after the exhibition. If you are unable to visit the exhibition, use it to explore the world of Pop Art Design wherever you are.

Pop Art Design is at the Barbican Centre, London, from 21 October 2013 until 9 February 2014.
