What is it about?

Building on the success of the first-ever continental psychology congress, PAPU2017, the 24th Annual Psychology Congress (MAMELA2018) is proudly hosted by the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA) at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg from 11- 14 September 2018.  The theme of the congress is Mamela Psychology.  ‘Mamela’ is a Sesotho word meaning “listen”. This indigenous term wonderfully captures the essence  of the discipline. The congress will focus on psychology’s role…to listen with humility and act with  integrity. The scientific programme reflects global cutting-edge and critical trends, including epistemological, theoretical and applied developments whilst also addressing the need for a relevant, decolonised South African Psychology.
