RDS Manual

The RDS manual provides guidance on practical development and quality assurance of informational apps and websites, created using the Right Decision Builder tools within the Right Decision Service (RDS). These Right Decision Builder tools support creation, and delivery through apps and websites, of informational resources including guidelines, protocols, handbooks, contact directories, education and training material, patient information and shared decision aids. A specific tool within the Right Decision Builder complements these resources through visualisation of clinical and care pathways in a consistent format that is optimised for mobile delivery.



The Right Decision Service is the national decision support platform for Scotland’s health and social care. It provides a single go-to place for health and social care staff to find and to build quality assured decision support tools. The RDS is a key output from the national decision support programme led by the Digital Health and Care Institute (DHI) to fulfil the knowledge mobilisation and decision support objectives within Scotland’s Digital Health and Care Strategy.
