Since the first conference in 1998, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has convened researchers, State and local administrators, practitioners, policymakers, and Federal officials to discuss cutting-edge research on family self-sufficiency and social welfare programs and policies. The 2020 Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS) will take place May 27-29, 2020 in Washington, DC and will provide an opportunity to hear the latest findings from evaluations of human services and employment programs and policies, discuss ways to incorporate findings into the design and implementation of programs, and identify future evaluation needs.

The RECS is supported by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) in the ACF. OPRE studies ACF programs and the populations they serve through rigorous research and evaluation projects.
