Memory is often one of the first areas affected by Alzheimer's disease and other kinds of dementia. However, some research has shown that elaborative rehearsal strategies, such as using a simple mnemonic technique, can help compensate for those memory deficits and improve mental functioning in early dementia.

Track the results of each question and the overall progress, including time spent per question. It will provide you with insights that could answer such questions as:


- Are they able to find their home?
- Can they remember to take medication?
- Is their memory deteriorating, and at what phase?
- Do they need extra support from a PSW?



The questions you add could be generic or unique to your situation alone. Here are examples of sample questions to consider:


- What is your address?
- What are the names of your kids?
- What medication are you on, and when should you be taking it?
- What is Bob's phone number?
- What time should you call Bob every day?
- Count from 1 to 100.
- If there is fire or smoke, what should you do?
