App Store Description

In an age when everything has become available as an app, the time for digitizing democracy in order to make it more accessible, more tangible, and more actionable has finally come.

We're a social media platform dedicated to digitizing & improving democracy. By empowering all Canadians, our mission is to affect change and mobilize our municipal, provincial and federal governments across our country, and soon export this knowhow internationally.

Resident is built by citizens for citizens. Just like other social media platforms, Resident is free and always will be. Contrary to them however Resident does not, and will not ever monetize its users by selling ads. In fact, our revenue model aligns with our core mission. We succeed as a company when our users, Residents, obtain the support, attention and representation they are entitled to within our democracy.

Every user on the platform is a Resident, and is automatically assigned to their municipal, provincial and federal government & jurisdiction as soon as they create their profile. This ensures that when they create posts, their elected officials are automatically assigned to their requests.

Elected officials are first and foremost residents of our communities as well. For this reason, they too are users like all others of the Resident app. They are however validated via a secure process and are assigned the status of Elected Official, and designated to their respective geopolitical district.

What's unique about our social media is that there are three kinds of posts which Resident users can make:
- Requests are the fastest way to obtain services from your government. By tagging your elected official, you’re sure to get the attention you deserve.
- Suggestions, help your governments by submitting new ideas and supporting existing ones already posted by your co-citizens.
- Appreciations allow you to let your elected officials know when they’re doing things right.

Of course it isn't the role of Elected Officials to handle all requests. Our algorithms are optimized to only involve them when required, such as when delays are longer than average in neighbouring communities. Using the latest in A.I. technology, your posts are automatically routed to the appropriate government authorities and their respective departments & employees, ensuring the path of least resistance between you and the services funded by your hard earned tax dollars.

This unprecedented transparency not only allows Resident users to see everyone else's public posts on the news feed, but also to benchmark the efficiency of the city and province they live in as compared to their peers. Of course, this information is also seen and acted on by participating governments, allowing them to not only improve service levels, but to do so while lowering their operating costs.

Privacy is a top priority. For this reason, users can select to be referred to by their real names, or Resident usernames. Their home address can be made public, or kept private. As well, all posts created by Resident users can either be made visible to all other residents on the platform, or private, only accessible to Elected Officials.
