App Store Description

Walk into Ross Furniture Store and you know it’s an uncommon place. First you sense it, then you see the unique collection of home furnishings and accessories that give the store a distinctive flair. Established in 1958, for over 50 years Ross Furniture has been a family owned store, carving a niche in central Mississippi’s competitive furniture market. The Stringer family’s fourth generation is transforming this former no-frills Jackson business into one that offers high-quality, extraordinary furniture at value prices.

Ross furniture is an offspring of City Furniture Co., which opened in Jackson in 1945. Following two brief partnerships, Fred Stringer Sr. and his wife, Myrtle Ross Stringer, became the sole owners of City Furniture. In 1958, Fred Stringer and one of his four sons, Ross Stringer, opened Ross Furniture in Jackson. At that time, there were 28 furniture stores in downtown Jackson. Three Stringer family businesses continue to exist in Jackson area-Stringer, Ross and city furniture stores. Building on this long-standing family business are Ross Stringer’s two daughters and their husbands, Bridget and Mike English and Anita and Mark Watkins. Members of the fourth generation Brannon and Brittney English, have joined the ranks working on this showroom floor.
