App Store Description

Healthcare professionals (HCP’s) in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island & Newfoundland & Labrador can use this app to complete a provincial Pharmacare special authorization request form for the ICS/LABA class of medications (for Asthma or COPD). The app uses a decision tree methodology to guide HCP’s through a series of questions based on an individual patient profile and the Pharmacare special authorization criteria for the ICS/LABA class in their province.

Once the relevant patient information has been entered, the app will generate a completed special authorization request form, which can then be e-mailed (for printing) or printed directly from the app. The app utilizes the appropriate special authorization request form for each province.

The Rx Spec Auth app does not store or transmit any patient information, either on the mobile device, over any network, or on a server. Temporary files are created on the mobile device containing the patient information in a PDF that is generated by the application so it can be sent as an email attachment or printed. All temporary files such as these are explicitly deleted when the user starts a new form and after the user finishes viewing, printing or emailing the form.

Use of this application does not guarantee approval of the special authorization request by the provincial Pharmacare program.
