App Store Description
The Salaam app is a collective effort of UNHCR and NGO partners to bring together information relevant to asylum-seekers in Israel.
Salaam is a tool for asylum-seekers and persons assisting asylum-seekers in Israel, to access reliable public information regarding the asylum application process, support services, applicable laws, healthcare and health insurance, visas, workers’ rights, educational opportunities, and navigating life in Israel.
In addition to frequently asked questions and answers, Salaam provides news relevant to asylum-seekers on the news feed tab with the most up-to-date news items on top, and push notifications for news that is important, time-sensitive, or urgent. Salaam also provides convenient access to emergency phone numbers, and the contact information, location, and reception hours for organizations providing services to asylum-seekers and refugees in Israel.
Salaam is available in Tigrinya, Arabic, Hebrew, and English.
The Salaam application has 5 main features:
1. Q&A tab: Frequently asked questions and answers, with referrals to organizations who can provide assistance.
2. News feed: news on any legislative changes pertaining to asylum-seekers, new educational opportunities, new vocational classes, changes in reception hours at an NGO, etc.
3. Organizations list: A list of organizations, agencies, and community centers providing assistance, services, and support for asylum-seekers in Israel.
4. Audio: The information in the Q&A section will be available in audio. Tigrinya speakers will need to allow the application to download the audio while the app has access to the Internet.
5. Push Notifications: The information you will receive through push notifications will be either very important for every asylum-seeker to know, or time-sensitive/urgent.
