Saywhatitype (Universal)

This simple APP makes use of your device's local Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature to read out the text you type, write, paste or pick from a record on the history list in a language of your choice.

Ideal as your personal speech coach and handy companion, automatic audio (long) text reader or virtual speech assistant whether you are brushing up on your foreign language listening / pronunciation skill or want to harness the power of TTS to communicate your message on your behalf (user accessibility function - device speech services).

::: NOTE
Certain devices may show a three letter language code (ISO 639-2 instead of ISO 639-1)[3] as the prefix followed by text which does not represent common two letter country codes (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2)
e.g.
eng-x-lvariant-f00 ... instead of en-US, en-GB, etc.
or
ita-x-lvariant-f00 ... instead of it-ITA

... where no formal language description such as (English) or (Italian) is shown. However, TTS playback should work normally[1] as this is a known UI cosmetic issue.


[1] TTS voice data availability is dependent on manufacturer, device, software, country and/or region. Additionally, you may need to explicitly install the voice data of the chosen TTS engine on your device manually for the desired language and restart the App before TTS voice playback can work.
