About the University:
The David Aghmashenebeli University of Georgia (DAUG) Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “University”, abbreviated as “DAUG”) is a subject with a 30-year history of the modern Georgian educational space, defending national and universal values, which is oriented to direct intellectual resources for the country’s integration into the European space and successful development.
The establishment of the university is connected with the idea of ​​restoring Georgia’s independence, the creation of the Society for the Social Protection of Those Who Left the Communist Party by its Rector, Professor Teimuraz Koridze in 1987, and the establishment of the Society “Support and Upliftment” on its basis, on July 11, 1991.
The society aimed to free the country from communist ideas and worldviews, accelerate the transition from an administrative-command system to a free market economy, and involve youth in the pursuit of freedom and building an independent state. The “Support and Upliftment” society united the country’s distinguished scientists, who, under the leadership of Professor Teimuraz Koridze and with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, founded the first private higher education institution in Georgia, the “David Aghmashenebeli Tbilisi Engineering and Economic Institute”.
