App Store Description

We at Self Learn are a non profit organisation and are passionate about ensuring that all children, even those with severe dyslexia, can learn to read and spell at a reading age of 12.5 to 14 years within 9 months.

It is a linear program with 24 levels of learning and it takes the student through the ABCs, then to three letter phonic words and on to four letter words. It examines the silent ‘e’ at the end of words (e.g. fat-fate), double vowels (e.g. coat, steak, dead) which of the two vowels is sounded? (Is it the first or second vowel sound and is it long or short?). Then there is the trouble with the ’o’s! - there are ten different ‘o’ sounds which need to be learnt as in hop, hope, cold, out, some, core, boy, soup, book, one.

The Revision Folder consists of three pages, red amber and green; should the student get any words wrong on the previous level tests, the words will automatically move onto the red page but once it has been correctly spelt, it will move onto the amber page and once it is correctly spelt on the amber page it moves onto the green page.

The Games Zone comprises of 4 different games that the student can access at anytime provided he/she has built up a number of minutes from doing well in the tests.

When completed the student will be able to read and spell at a reading age of 12.5 to 14 years, “the computer is the tutor”!

Students take between 25 and 55 hours depending on their prior skill ability.
