Serenader is made by music nerds in San Francisco. We believe there’s got to be a better, more creative way to publish and listen to music today.

On Serenader, artists publish their song by uploading each vocal and instrument performers individually (full volume stems). Artists can then combine them to play as different song versions. The platform plays the best version to each first-time listener according to tastes, thus giving the song the best chances.

Listeners can browse song versions and switch between them without skipping a beat. Listeners can favorite a version and thus provide awesome feedback to artists from their part of the world. Even better, artists can allow listeners like DJs and influencers to craft their own viral song versions and share socially.

Artists can upload more instrument performances over time and make more versions. For example, an “unplugged” version might feature a different vocal performance and swap an electric guitar for an acoustic one. Over time the song becomes a living, evolving body of work where there’s always something new.

Song artists can even invite talented musicians anywhere in the world to contribute an instrument performance to their song. This may take the song to interesting emotional dimensions that appeal to unexpected audiences.

On Serenader the rules of collaboration are simple. Song artists retain all rights to their songs. Contributing musicians retain the rights to their specific instrument recording. When monetization comes along, song artists will be able to specify how much of the mechanical streaming royalties they’d like to share.

Serenader operates differently than traditional music platforms. On Serenader there are no final mixes of songs or versions. Every listener stream is mixed on-the-fly and allows interactivity. A song version is essentially a mixing recipe for all the vocal and instruments performers featured in it. There are no download or exchange of audio files, every vocal and instrument performances stay secure in the cloud under the control of song artists.
