What is it about?
The Visual Listening Guide (VLG) is a new way to discover symphonic music in a visually engaging and comprehensible manner, regardless of musical background. Created by musicologist Hannah Chan-Hartley of Symphony Graphique, the VLG is a kind of sonic “map” to a musical work. Designed for print, it uses a distinctive blend of graphics, colour, and text to help you structure your listening of a piece—and thus, deepen your understanding of it.

With this app powered by Immersive Publishing, augmented reality brings the printed VLG to life with music excerpts and digital content, completely customizable by orchestras to empower them to connect more directly and deeply with their audiences. This app works with the sample VLG in the Symphony Graphique brochure to show what’s possible.
