App Store Description

What is the Perimeter of that coloured shape?

Shape Perimeter Quiz Master is a multiple-choice based quiz program for Shape Perimeter problems. It provides the user with a variety of coloured shapes and challenge the users to calculate their perimeters. The basic shapes covered by this program include:

- Square
- Rectangle
- Triangle
- Parallelogram
- Trapezium
- Circle

In addition to these basic shapes, two complex shapes are also included to provide the users with a greater challenge:

- Random Shapes - randomisation of the above basic shapes
- Composite Shapes - shapes composed of the basic shapes (e.g. a parallelogram joining a triangle)

Hints for calculating perimeters of basic shapes:

- Square Perimeter = 4 × a where a = length of side
- Rectangle Perimeter = 2 × ( w + h ) where w = width and h = height
- Triangle Perimeter = a + b + c where a, b, c are the three sides of the triangle
- Quadrilateral (e.g. Parallelogram, Trapezium) Perimeter = a + b + c + d where a, b, c, and d are the four sides of the quadrilateral
- Circle Perimeter (circumference) = 2 × π × r where r = radius of the circle. Note, the number π is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It is approximately equal to 3.14159
- Analyse the shape and identify right-angled triangles, use Pythagoras theorem to calculate the hypotenuse.
- Pythagoras theorem: for a right angled triangle, a² + b² = c² where a and a are the two adjacent sides of the right angle, and c is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle).

App Features:

- Shape generation mechanism: all shapes are auto-generated, providing unlimited possibilities.
- User option to show or hide the grid lines on the shapes. Turning off the grid lines on the shape objects makes the quiz even more challenging.
- Performance monitoring for each shape type.
- Built-in Stop Watch to time the user's' problem solving capability.
- Universal App - works on iPhone and iPad devices.
