OVERVIEW
SIMPLE RALLY adapts its core mechanic from a classic paper and pencil game called RACETRACK.
In the game, you move along two-dimensional vectors drawn on a grid. A single move's vector cannot differ from the previous move's vector by more than one in each dimension. If you go out of bounds, you crash and move back at least two positions (or further if the position is occupied).
There are three modes in SIMPLE RALLY. The first is a duel for two players, where each player moves twice per turn, except for the initial turn, in which only the second player moves twice. The player who reaches the finish line first immediately wins the race, regardless of the move order.
The second racing mode allows up to eight players, with each player making one move per turn. In this mode, players cannot occupy the same position and they move in the reverse order of their initial placement on the start line. Again, the first player to reach the finish immediately wins the race, regardless of the move order.
The third mode is Time Attack, where the goal is to find the fastest route through a track and achieve the best result. A result consists of the number of moves and the total length of the player's path to the finish line. If two results have the same number of moves, the one with a shorter path is considered faster.
The game offers three difficulty levels: the easiest provides hints about which moves lead to a crash and which are safe, while the hardest features the most unforgiving AI opponents. The duel and Time Attack modes can also be played online against other players.
TIPS
• Slowing down takes as many moves as accelerating. Use the minimap to check if you've reached the halfway point of a straight before a turn.
• There’s no penalty for crashing after the finish line. So, in the final moments of a race, speed up!
• It's usually better to stay on the inside of a turn.
• The hardest opponents are the best teachers of tactics.
• Keep fighting after a crash. Your opponents make mistakes too.
