Right amid the bustle of Moscow, above the façade of an unusual three-floor mansion on the 2nd Tverskaya-Yamskaya street housing the Museum AZ, hovers a massive fantastic creature. It is inaccessible to normal vision. One can see it only by using a device that extends the natural possibilities of a human being: a smartphone or a tablet. In the free flow of half-abstract forms over the building’s roof and their bright iridescent coloring, the outlines of an enticing paradisiacal bird can be discerned – the eternally youthful, eternally beautiful Sirin, nonchalantly singing about the future.
The author of this memorable image is Maxim Svishёv, a well-known artist from Saint-Petersburg. His distinctive digital collages and videos, inhabited by psychedelic zoomorphic creatures and charged with energy and color, seem to reveal the concealed layers of our everyday environment. In his work for the Museum AZ, Svishёv employs for the first time the innovative technology of augmented reality, evoking one of the primordial Russian female cultural archetypes. His SIRIN – intangible and ephemeral, a pure emanation of another world – will announce its presence on numerous viewer-made pictures and videos migrating across the Net.
